I was always a melancholic soul with a plateau of sadness on my shoulder. Whenever I reached out for a touch of happiness, life eyed and envied and thus it evicted. Happiness was always a temporary tenant and I could never ask it to stay long. All these years I still have been trying to hold it in, maybe even cage it in, but like a whiff of air it eludes.
Now, there is still one thing that I have learnt at least, i.e. to put up a smile. But let me tell you one thing, do not confuse a smile for happiness. Oh! No. They hardly go hand in hand.
Smile is one of those easiest of façades we put up to fool all others, and they pass by thinking we are well, sparing us of queries into sadness.
Days roll by with a smile on my face yet happiness is yet to be found.
Shall I ever find it?
Or maybe there'll come a time when I too would be fooled by the façade I put up, because Smiling was always easier than ending up with happiness.
